Title : Diamond Jubilee inter-school Volleyball tournament-2016
Carmel Convent School hosted the Diamond Jubilee inter-school Volleyball tournament from 30th August to 1st September. Eight schools from Delhi-NCR competed for the winning trophy. The chief guest for the opening ceremony was Mr. Kiranpal Rana,who himself is a renowned Indian volleyball player. The opening ceremony was a spectacular affair where Devika of class VI enthralled the audience with her gymnastics routine. This was followed by a performance of Aerobics by the students of classes III,IV and V and a song by the Tarana Group. Each competing team had an opportunity to play three matches. The results were as follows: 1st position - Mount Carmel School 2nd position- Sadhu Vaswani School 3rd position- Carmel Convent School Harman Mangat of Carmel Convent School was declared the Best Player of the tournament.
Teachers' Day was celebrated in Carmel with its usual spirit of gaiety and enthusiasm. On 2nd September, students of all classes showed their love and appreciation for their beloved teachers by putting up short programs in their classes and presenting their teachers with flowers and cards. The celebrations on 5th September began with a special mass held for the teachers in the convent by Father Jose T.J where Father enlightened the teachers about their role in shaping the lives and minds of children through their 'Heart, Head and Mind'. He also spoke about the recent canonization of St. Teresa of Kolkata. It was followed by a cultural show of dances, songs,even a movie for the teachers by the 12th standard students. To show their gratitude to the teachers who play a vital role in the lives of their children the PTA members organized an extremely entertaining program which was followed by a lunch.
Title : 70th YEAR OF INDEPENDENCE OF INDIA CELEBRATED IN CARMEL CONVENT SCHOOL
Azadi70 - "Yaad Karo Kurbani", the fortnight long celebrations to reinstate the fervor of patriotism among the younger generations came to a ceremonial end with the mass recitation of the National Anthem. On 23rd August 2016 at 11a.m. the junior and senior school students of Carmel Convent School i.e. almost 1600 children and their teachers sang the National Anthem on the school grounds with great zeal and patriotism.
Title : Visit to S.Chand Publishing H, Gaziabad by students of Std X A ,B, C
The students of Std X A ,B,C visited the S.Chand publishing house on 10 August. They enjoyed being taken on a guided tour around the premises of the huge workshop. The students saw the design sections, digital printing, cover lamination and printing, and experienced the processes involved in a book being printed ,bound, cut and finally packed for despatch to shops . It was easy to relate to a lesson their history syllabus.
.As part of the 70th Indian
Independence day celebrations the students of class V participated in
a slogan writing competition, conducted in the school premises by
teachers Mrs. Vatsala Bajpai and Mrs. Jacintha William on Thursday,
17th August 2016. The students participated enthusiastically
and displayed their writing skills. Slogans in English, related to
the freedom struggle and patriotic thoughts were used to convey the
message of nationalism. The three best entries were awarded with
On 16th of August, the
third edition of the annual DK Quiz was held in our school. Dorling Kindersley
or commonly known as DK publication house held this event. Students of classes
7th, 8th and 9th took part in this quiz in teams of two. After a preliminary quiz,
six teams were selected for the final quiz. After 5 rounds of enthralling questions
the winners and the runner-ups were awarded prizes. The winners will now
represent the school at an interschool level.
The Cyber Hub club had Ms. Priyamvada Kameshwar, a Carmel alumni
as a guest speaker on 16th Aug and 1st Sept' 16. The topic of the presentation
was "Cyber Security and Cryptography"
Ms Priyamvada talked about the need for cyber security and how the
students should protect themselves from cyber crimes. The students listened
with great attention to the pointers given by the speaker. In the interactive session on Cryptography
students were shown common cryptography techniques and how they could use them to create clever passwords and encrypt messages.
A poster making competition on Cyber Security was conducted for students of class six to bring about awareness of the perils of Cyber crime and how students should take protect themselves from Cyber attack.
Title : Independence Day Celebrations- 12th August 2016
Carmel celebrated India's 70th year of Independence on 12th August. The event commenced with the hoisting of the National flag by chief guest Major General Dr. V.K. Naik. This was followed by taking the pledge of allegiance to the nation and singing the national anthem. A colourful march past by the students of class XII followed. The tiny tots of Carmel recited a patriotic poem. Songs and dances commemorating the importance of our independence and the sacrifices by the people for it were the highlights of the day. The chief guest gave an inspiring speech reminding the students of the true meaning of independence and liberty.
A painting competition for middle school students took place after the celebration. The students were asked to depict Independence and freedom through their art work.
